Education Support

LearningThe Education Support Unit at Swan View Senior School was formed in 1999 and aims to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where all our students can Dream Believe and Achieve.

There are around twenty students from years 8 to 12. Year 8 and 9 students are part of the Middle School team and join their mainstream peers for their option subjects, incursions and excursions.

In years 8, 9 and 10 there is a strong emphasis on improving student’s literacy and numeracy skills. Technology, in the form of computers and a Smartboard, is an integral part of our educational programs.

In keeping with our strong environmental theme running through our science, society and environment and English lessons, students are involved in a number of activities throughout the school. All students are involved in the school garden, where we grow herbs, flowers and vegetables. The upper school students attend Swan Tafe for one day a week to study a Certificate 1 in Horticulture so are able to put their skills into practice. Other environmental projects include paper recycling and a worm farm.

Upper school students study a Curriculum Council Maths and English course and Workplace Learning. This involves the students being part of the work force for one day a week and enables them to acquire life skills as well as experience of life after school.
